The Central (shown above) is designed so that the stem body and top plate are inverted. At first glance it looks like an upside down Alta, but it isn’t. The “rise” specs for the Alta is very different from the Central by 8 mm in the non-inverted position of both stems - and a difference of 12 mm inverted. The 2012 Alta has been somewhat restyled a little to look more like the Central.

Fly Bikes has updated their line of stems. The first of the new models is the Baja - a frontload stem with a 10 mm rise (19 mm inverted), and a 50 mm reach/offset. It weighs 9.17 oz. The other is the Central - a bottomload stem with a 14 mm rise (19 mm inverted), and a 50 mm reach/offset. And weighs 9.70 oz. Both are made of 6061-T6 internally and externally CNC machined aluminum.
